Fans had the chance to relive the IHeartRadio Music Festival 2021 on Saturday night on The CW and a performance that got everyone talking (and dancing!) Walker hayes.
The rising country star took to the T-Mobile Arena stage for a performance of his viral hit, “Fancy Like,” causing a huge song and dance as the sold-out crowd showed movement at the infamous TikTok dance that took the internet by storm over the summer.
Hayes, dressed in a white t-shirt, jeans and boots, performed the song effortlessly and was greeted on stage with open arms.
Since its release, “Fancy Like” has become a true viral sensation, with millions of people dancing the track on TikTok and other social media platforms.
The song was so successful that it caught the attention of Applebee’s, who recently teamed up with Hayes to star in a new TV commercial for the brand. Additionally, the restaurant chain brought back the beloved Oreo Shake in honor of the song.
“For years my wife Laney and I were regulars at Applebee for a date night and I always wanted to write a song about it,” Hayes shared recently. “The response to ‘Fancy Like’ dancing and fan love was a dream come true – plus Applebee even brought back her Oreo Cookie Shake! What could be better than that? ”
The success of “Fancy Like” began when Hayes’ daughter Lila suggested they do a TikTok dance for the song on a Sunday afternoon. They did the dancing on their porch and within hours the TikTok had over a million views.
For Hayes, the numbers were mind-boggling, but that was just the start. The song made it to several charts and smashed its previous streaming records.
“It’s really what you dream of as an artist,” Hayes said in a recent interview with Country Now. “The great thing about being a creative person is that you literally wake up every day and say to yourself, ‘Maybe it’s the day.’ It turns out that was it.
“Fancy Like” is featured on Hayes’ Country stuff EP, which is available to stream now.
Additionally, Hayes recently shared a remix of the track with pop superstar Kesha.
