COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)
The Roots and blues festivalI’m back in Colombia this weekend.
The gates to the festival stages at Stephens Lake Park are opening scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m. Events are scheduled until Sunday evening.
Roots N Blues organizers canceled last year’s festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are several precautions in place at this year’s festival to ensure the safety of guests and staff. MU Health Care plans to provide hand sanitizing stations and at least 20 hand washing stations.
The number of people allowed to attend this year’s Roots N Blues Festival is also reduced.
Festival organizers plan to space out bars and vendors to allow guests to socially distance themselves. Participants must use the festival’s contactless wristband payment system.
Guests will also need to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test in order to attend Roots N Blues.
Parking next to Roots N Blues will be limited this year.
Participants are encouraged to park downtown or use the free shuttle service. Six âFirst Studentâ labeled shuttles will run between the city center car parks and the festival.
Parking in downtown garages is free after 6 p.m. on Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday. Festival-goers will want to pay attention to parking spaces marked 24 hours as mandatory.
The shuttles will begin pickups at 3 p.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The shuttle service will run until the end of the festival each evening and pick up people from the Riechmann Pavilion parking lot to bring them back to the city center.
Festival-goers should also remember not to block streets, walkways or parking on private property.
