GOSHEN — Wrapping up its second season, Litchfield Jazz Presents will wrap up at 7:30 p.m. on April 29, featuring award-winning vocal group Duchess.

Duchess, who last performed for Litchfield in 2019 at its last in-person festival, was honored this year with the Jazz Journalists 2021 Vocal Group of the Year award and the Jazz Times Critic’s Poll #1 Vocal Group pick 2021 , beating legendary bands Manhattan Transfer and Take Six, according to Lichfield Jazz Presents.

The April 29 show will welcome a limited audience in the studio with a reception reserved for ticket holders to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. Proceeds from ticket sales and donations from live listeners will help fund need-based scholarships for the 26th Annual Litchfield Jazz Camp.

In autumn 2020, the Litchfield Jazz Festival began offering free live streams of top jazz bands from Telefunken Sound Stage in South Windsor. The concerts, “Litchfield Jazz Presents”, were intended to provide listening pleasure for the public and concerts for the artists, at a time when both were rare. The series was so well received that the non-profit organization Litchfield Performing Arts, which runs all things Litchfield Jazz, decided to continue.

Duchess was founded in 2013 by New York singers Amy Cervini, Hilary Gardner and Melissa Stylianou. They will be accompanied at Telefunken by Michael Cabe, piano, Matt Aronoff, bass, and Jared Schonig, drums. Now artists from Anzic Recording, Duchess’ music is inspired by the 1930s sound of the famous Boswell Sisters and they bring that vibe up to date.

Sponsors of Litchfield Jazz Presents include Telefunken, a manufacturer of world-class recording and stage microphones, and private donations.

The show will also be accessible online and streamed live for free at www.litchfieldjazzfest.com

Tickets for the in-person studio show are available at LJDuchess2022.eventbrite.com; the seats are limited.
